Saami youth in the Indigenous Youth Caucus

Ms Anna Afanasyeva, a Saami woman from Russia, is now participating in the Indigenous Youth Caucus, an international cooperation between indigenous youth during and between the sessions of the United Nations' Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII). WGIP member Tuomas Aslat Juuso is also a member of the IYC, representing indigenous youth in the Arctic.

Saami youth are represented by Anna Afanasyeva in the Indigenous Youth Caucus (IYC), as she has been appointed on behalf of indigenous youth of Europe. WGIP member, and member of the Saami Parliament in Finland, Tuomas Aslat Juuso is the other Saami member of the Caucus.The Indigenous Youth Caucus is an international body working on indigenous peoples' issues during and between the sessions of the United Nations' Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII)., and the Caucus gathers indigenous youth from all over the world.

The current issues of the IYC is to contribute to the Report to EMRIP (Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples) about Indigenous Peoples and the Right to Participate in Decision-Making, as well as to find a suitable logo for the Caucus.
